Mentoring Programme Reopens for Applications

March 25, 2022

Mentoring programme

A.F. Blakemore has opened its Mentoring Programme up once again for a new intake of mentors and mentees.

The scheme aims to help colleagues develop in their roles by increasing confidence, self-awareness, knowledge of the business and opportunities for progression.

It launched last year and received fantastic feedback from colleagues.

Why sign up?

The programme can be a learning opportunity for both mentors and mentees, encouraging sharing and learning across colleagues and departments. Mentors and mentees will be paired across the business, so you will have the chance to learn from a colleague who isn’t in your department. Senior colleagues will be paired with those wishing to progress.

Mentors can help mentees consider opportunities for career growth, gain confidence and improve their interpersonal skills. The support is based on the mentor’s own experiences and learnings but also draws on the tools and techniques of the company’s Leading the Blakemore Way development programme.

How will it work?

Mentors will meet with their mentees either virtually or in person every four to six weeks, but this can be determined and agreed between you when you meet.

The relationship should last between six and 12 months, but there is no reason why it can’t continue if both parties are happy.

There will be training for both mentors and mentees.

Who can apply for the programme?

Anyone can apply. To ensure we are driving our inclusion and diversity agenda, there will be a minimum 50% of spaces reserved for women and 30% for colleagues who are Black, Asian or from an ethnic minority heritage.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying to be either a mentor or mentee, please complete this form: https://forms.office.com/r/mLHgK31ZJK

The application process is open until Friday 15th April. Following this, applications will be reviewed and pairings created.
