Blakemore Retail will be teaming up with the NSPCC this October half term to promote the charity’s Home or Out Alone campaign across its store estate.

The NSPCC launched its Home or Out Alone campaign in the summer to help parents and carers decide whether their children are ready to stay home or go out alone.

Blakemore Retail donated £50,000 from its NSPCC fundraising efforts to the campaign, to go towards resources that provide families with helpful advice to keep their children safe.

During the October school holiday, the business will be inviting NSPCC volunteers into several of its SPAR stores to help spread awareness of the campaign, including Wollaston, Wombourne, Gornal Wood and Crewe.

Blakemore Retail stores have also been sent NSPCC flyers and leaflets that they can display and hand out to customers.

Blakemore Retail Managing Director Matt Teague said: “We are very pleased to be working together with the NSPCC on the Home or Out Alone campaign. Learning to be independent is an important part of growing up, but there can be a lot to think about for parents.

“We hope the resources and campaign will support families in making these important decisions, particularly those in the communities around our SPAR stores who have contributed towards this campaign by supporting our fundraising efforts.”

The NSPCC has created a quiz to help parents and carers decide whether their children are ready to be home or out alone. Check it out at home-alone.nspcc.org.uk/.

Last month, Blakemore Retail’s partnership with the NSPCC was recognised by The Corporate Engagement Awards, which honour CSR programmes, corporate sponsorships and the communication strategies around those collaborations.

Blakemore Retail and the NSPCC have been shortlisted for an award in the Most Effective Long-term Commitment category.

The winners will be announced at an awards presentation on 9th November.
