Blakemore Retail colleagues are getting ready for a big bank holiday weekend celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
All stores across England and Wales will be taking part in themed fundraisers to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. Colleagues have been invited to dress up in clothes from their favourite decade and decorate their stores in red, white and blue.
To fundraise, a whole host of activities have been planned. Colleagues will be hosting cake sales, baking their own Jubilee-themed cakes and organising royal raffles and tombolas.
Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter commented: “The Jubilee is a great opportunity for everyone to have fun and bring their communities together at the same time as raising more vital funds for the NSPCC.
“I have every confidence that colleagues will make this event extra special. Good luck to everyone fundraising!”
The Blakemore Foundation has awarded monetary and goods donations worth £7,145 to 138 local community events celebrating the Jubilee.
Good causes to benefit include the NSPCC, Broughton Hall Nursing Home near Gwersyllt, the Rotary Club of Skegness, 1st Castle Rainbows in Stafford, Brightening Keelby, Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, Rhayader WI, Watford Lions Club and St Margaret’s Church in Laceby to name but a few.
The Jubilee weekend will be the last big event in Blakemore Retail’s 2021/22 fundraising year, which ends in June. The stores that have raised the most over the past 12 months will be crowned top fundraisers at the Blakemore Retail Conference.
