Blakemore Retail Gets Set for Big Bank Holiday Fundraiser

August 20, 2020

Talk PANTS and stay safe

Blakemore Retail SPAR stores across England and Wales will be embarking on one of their biggest bank holiday fundraising drives for the NSPCC next weekend.

Colleagues across Blakemore Retail’s estate have been invited to host a ‘PANTS’ themed bank holiday fundraising weekend from 28th to 31st August.

PANTS, also known as the Underwear Rule, has been created by the NSPCC to help parents teach their young children that their body belongs to them and that they should always speak to an adult if they are worried about anything.

A.F. Blakemore Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter commented: “This unique fundraiser is one of Blakemore Retail’s calendar highlights, with an incredible £86,000 being raised over the past two years from this event alone.

“By raising funds and awareness, Blakemore Retail colleagues will be helping children to stay safe from abuse. The event is a fun way to raise funds in-store, but at the heart of it is also an important message for children to learn from.”

This year’s event will look and feel very different to past PANTS fundraisers, with social distancing in-store. However, key fundraising activities will include ‘Get Your PANTS On Fancy Dress’, ‘Little Artists at Home’ (Pantosaurus colouring and drawing competitions) and certainly lots of raffles.

As an incentive for colleagues, £50 gift cards will be up for grabs for the top fundraisers in each Blakemore Retail region, as well as the store with the most liked photo on Blakemore Retail’s Slack communications channel.

If you want to get involved with PANTS Weekend, why not pop in-store this August Bank Holiday? Alternatively, you can show your support by donating to Blakemore Retail’s PANTS fundraising page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/blakemore-retail-nspcc.
