Blakemore Retail Colleagues Celebrate Jubilee

June 10, 2022

Jubilee

Blakemore Retail colleagues enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a fundraiser for the NSPCC.

All stores across England and Wales took part in themed fundraisers to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. Colleagues were invited to dress up in clothes from their favourite decade and decorate their stores in red, white and blue. They baked cakes, hosted cake sales and organised royal raffles and tombolas.

Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter commented: “The Jubilee was a great opportunity for everyone to have fun and bring their communities together at the same time as raising more vital funds for the NSPCC.

“Colleagues did a fantastic job of making this event extra special with some outstanding store displays!”

The Blakemore Foundation awarded monetary and goods donations worth £7,145 to 138 local community events celebrating the Jubilee.

Good causes to benefit included the NSPCC, Broughton Hall Nursing Home near Gwersyllt, the Rotary Club of Skegness, 1st Castle Rainbows in Stafford, Brightening Keelby, Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, Rhayader WI, Watford Lions Club and St Margaret’s Church in Laceby to name but a few.

The Jubilee weekend was the last big event in Blakemore Retail’s 2021/22 fundraising year, which ends in June. The stores that have raised the most over the past 12 months will be crowned top fundraisers at the Blakemore Retail Conference.
