Blakemore Retail and NSPCC win at Corporate Engagement Awards

Blakemore Retail’s charity partnership with the NSPCC has won bronze at the Corporate Engagement Awards 2021.

The Corporate Engagement Awards recognise companies that demonstrate the very best in creative engagement with their partners, supporting charities and surrounding communities across Europe.

The awards honour three key areas: corporate social responsibility programmes, corporate sponsorships and the communication strategies around those collaborations.

Blakemore Retail and the NSPCC were presented with a bronze award in the Most Effective Long-term Commitment category at a celebratory event that took place in London on 9th November.

Barclays and Hopscotch Consulting took the category’s gold award, while KPMG UK and National Literacy Trust took silver.

Awards founder Andrew Thomas said, “The last two years have been without precedent. We have all had to cope with new ways of engaging with the people, organisations and brands that touch our lives. Companies have also adjusted and the focus on reputation has become so important.

“It is a record year for entries, and all of tonight’s winners should be proud of their achievements and of their ongoing commitments to their communities, internal and external, the environment and to society at large.”

Since 2006, Blakemore Retail has raised more than £4 million for the NSPCC via fundraisers such as fancy dress days, raffles and cake sales.

Blakemore Retail Managing Director Matt Teague commented: “We are very proud of our partnership with the NSPCC, and it is fantastic to receive recognition for our achievements at a national event alongside some of the UK’s leading organisations. We were up against some very tough competition.

“Thank you so much to all our store colleagues who have contributed to Blakemore Retail winning this award by fundraising tirelessly for the NSPCC. The money raised has enabled the NSPCC to reach millions of children and young people.”

Blakemore Retail has committed to supporting the NSPCC until 2024, meaning that the partnership will last 18 years in total – a whole childhood of transforming young lives in homes, schools and local communities.

The judging panel for the Corporate Engagement Awards was made up of leading industry experts who are based in in-house across sponsorship, partnerships, CSR and sustainability roles.
