SPAR Shopper Wins Fuel for a Year in Competition Giveaway

February 06, 2023

A convenience store shopper from Welshampton has won free fuel for a year after entering a SPAR Christmas competition.

Keith Higgins collected a cash prize of £3,161.50 from SPAR Chirk after winning one of four grand prizes in the SPAR ‘Merry Textmas’ competition, which has given away up to £100,000 worth of prizes.

The £3,161.50 prize value reflects the average family’s spending on transport in the UK from April 2020 to March 2021.

Prize winner Keith Higgins commented: “It is a real blessing to win the equivalent of my annual fuel costs.  I am chuffed to bits as I never win anything! It is such a great community campaign from SPAR and I’m delighted I took part in SPAR Merry Textmas. ”

SPAR Store Manager, Tanya Rogers, commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to reward our shoppers with prizes like this at what can be a difficult financial time of year for many. We really appreciate all our customers, and it’s a wonderful way of saying thank you for shopping at SPAR.

“We hope that this prize goes a long way in helping Keith with his bills over the next 12 months  and that all our customers have enjoyed taking part in our Merry Textmas competition.”

Merry Textmas was a 25-day text-to-win competition that ran in more than 300 SPAR stores across England and Wales from 8th December 2022 to 1st January 2023.

Weekly grand prize draws offered customers the chance to win one of four big budget-boosting prizes: cash towards Christmas, fuel for a year, energy for a year or shopping at SPAR for a year.

Shoppers could also play daily to win one of more than 30,000 spot prizes redeemable at SPAR stores simply by sending a text.

Additional entries into the weekly grand prize draw could be won by downloading the SPAR Merry Textmas app, which featured an augmented reality game that could be played in-store.
