Shawbirch Store Relaunched after Major Refit

Blakemore Retail has relaunched its Shawbirch store in Telford, Shropshire, after carrying out a major refit.

The site has a brand-new Greggs counter, Post Office counter, Costa Coffee Express machine and County Bridge fresh meat range.

Blakemore Retail Managing Director Matt Teague commented: “Our Shawbirch store has undergone a major refit that has included the installation of Blakemore Retail’s fourteenth Greggs unit.

“The business has made a significant investment of circa £400,000 in the site, and the store has also been extended by the landlord to facilitate the refit. Customers are thrilled with the store refurbishment and their feedback has been fantastic.

“The new Greggs, Post Office, Costa Coffee and County Bridge offer make the store a real destination for the local community. In the first full week we saw sales increase by circa £12,000 on the same week last year, with Greggs contributing to £10,000 of that number.”

For additional convenience, local customers can place home delivery orders with the store via the Snappy Shopper app, getting groceries delivered straight to their door in under an hour.

Especially for the festive season, customers can also order a County Bridge fresh meat Christmas hamper.

The store has proved popular with the local community, especially as this is the first time that Post Office services have been available in Shawbirch. One Facebook post advertising the store relaunch received more than 300 likes.  

The SPAR was reopened on 27th November by Mayor of Wellington Councillor Pat Fairclough, who commented: “The residents of Shawbirch owe a debt of gratitude to the staff of our local SPAR. Since the start of the lockdown in spring they have kept the shop open and well stocked.”

The relaunch was marked by a golden ticket giveaway, free goody bags, a colouring competition and hamper raffle.

A defibrillator has been fitted to the store’s exterior, for anyone in the local area to use in an emergency.
