October 25, 2022

Blakemore Retail’s Chipping Sodbury store in Bristol has celebrated the opening of a brand-new post office with a visit from a local MP.

Luke Hall, the MP for Thornbury and Yate, cut the ribbon on 14th October to officially open Chipping Sodbury Post Office at its new location.

The new branch inside the SPAR will play a vital role in the local community, restoring a full-time permanent Post Office service to the town. The previous branch closed in November 2019, with a temporary mobile Post Office operating in the interim.

The Post Office is open throughout the store’s opening hours, offering more than 108 hours of Post Office service a week.

MP Luke Hall said: “Having a Post Office in Chipping Sodbury again is great news for the community. I know that my constituents are very pleased. I thank SPAR for taking on the branch and for providing daily service from early until late.”

Blakemore Retail Post Office Controller Stewert Waldron said: “As a community retailer we are delighted to offer Post Office services in our convenience stores; local residents can access a wide range of Post Office services during our shop opening hours – more than 108 hours a week.”

Post Office Strategic Partnerships Manager Nik Patel said: “We are delighted to have a permanent Post Office in this area again as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.

“The opening hours make it very convenient for customers to visit to do a wide range of transactions including sending mail and parcels, home shopping returns, cash withdrawals, banking, bill payments, sending travel money and Moneygram transfers.”
