SPAR Continues its Support of British Athletics

SPAR, the partner of British Athletics, is set to support the British Athletics Championships due to take place on 4th and 5th September.

The British Athletics Championships have been rescheduled for 4th-5th September and will now happen behind closed doors.

The event, which was due to take place on 20th and 21th June, has already been rescheduled once – in April it was pushed back to 8th-9th August because of the coronavirus pandemic. The event, which takes place in Manchester, normally acts as trials for the Olympics.

SPAR UK Digital Marketing Manager Alex Hall said: “The 2020 sporting calendar was meant to be hugely exciting for athletics fans around the world, but due to the pandemic a lot of these events have had to be cancelled or postponed.

"We know how hard the team at British Athletics have worked to reschedule the British Championships for this September and we are proud to continue our support of what should be a fantastic weekend of athletics.”

British trials for the rescheduled Tokyo Olympic Games will now take place on 26th-27th June 2021, offering British athletes an opportunity to compete this year.

SPAR announced a three-year sponsorship deal with British Athletics in 2018. Over the past two years SPAR has offered wide-ranging support.

As part of the agreement, SPAR is the Title Partner of the British Athletics Indoor Championships and acts as Events Partner to the end of 2020, which includes supplying meals for the entire workforce, including 400+ volunteers at the British Athletics Championships in September.

SPAR will be visible at the event in the form of block branding and track boards. A new #JoinTheJourney trailer has been launched by British Athletics. 

The event will be broadcast on BBC Two at 18:30 BST on Friday 4th September and on BBC One at 13:15 BST on Saturday 5th September.
