Wondering how you can help?
Having seen the situation in Afghanistan and also Haiti unfold over the past few days, A.F. Blakemore wants to remind colleagues of a tax-effective way that they can help by donating to charities directly via payroll giving.
Payroll giving is a simple, tax-effective way for colleagues to give to any UK-based charity from their pay.
Donations can be made to any national or local charity, or a recognised good cause such as a place of worship, school or scout group.
Once authorised, A.F. Blakemore’s payroll department deducts regular charitable donations from your pay, which are distributed to your charity of choice via the Charities Trust.
Not only is payroll giving simple, it is also tax effective as the donation is deducted before you pay the taxman. For example, if you donate £5, only £4 comes out of your salary and the taxman pays the rest.
You donate | £5.00 | £7.50 | £10.00 |
Cost to you as a 20% tax payer | £4.00 | £6.00 | £8.00 |
Cost to you as a 40% tax payer | £3.00 | £4.50 | £6.00 |
You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations and you can easily change the amount or nominated charities at any time.
If you are interested in supporting charities helping people in Afghanistan, a few charities available via A.F. Blakemore’s payroll giving platform include the British Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres/MSF), the International Rescue Committee, Refugee Action, Save the Children and Unicef.
A.F. Blakemore has an online platform for payroll giving to make it as easy as possible for employees to donate.
