Online Leading the Blakemore Way Programme Piloted

November 27, 2020

Online learning

This November nine AFB colleagues participated in a pilot online Leading the Blakemore Way programme.

It encompassed all the components, tools and techniques of the company’s two-day Leading the Blakemore Way programme, but took place in a virtual format due to Covid-19, with three five-hour sessions taking place over three weeks.

The purpose of the course was to help delegates to develop the skills, attitudes and capability to lead the Blakemore Way effectively and enjoyably.

Learning was supported with virtual breakout rooms, the use of Microsoft Whiteboard and self-directed learning in between the sessions, coordinated via Microsoft Teams.

The sessions were facilitated by Head of Business Improvement Dave Hammond and Business Improvement Officer David Cartwright.

Dave Hammond commented: “The pilot has been deemed a success and will now roll out from January 2021, with one or two cohorts per month up until such a time that we can safely reconvene in a classroom.”

The nine delegates from across the business represented Foodservice, Logistics, HR, Retail Proposition, Marketing and Trading.

National Sales Controller Sean Savage commented: “Many of the team have, like me, probably come across certain techniques and styles previously. However, for me personally, Leading the Blakemore Way has been head and shoulders above the rest.

“From start to finish the course was phased extremely well and delivered in a professional and thorough manner.

“I am personally going to use the techniques in my day to day from here on in and would also be extremely keen to be involved in any future training or development.”

Transport Manager Damon Andrews added: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable virtual course and a great way to interact with colleagues across the business.

“I intend to apply these tools to lead effectively, be efficient and productive in meetings and understand my purpose and what outcomes I expect to achieve.”
