Summer of Fundraising Supports More Good Causes

September 01, 2016

A.F. Blakemore employees have brightened up local communities across the company’s trading estate this season with a sensational array of summer fundraisers.

As schools were winding down for the end of term in July, colleagues across the business were just getting started. Via the Blakemore Foundation, Blakemore Retail and Blakemore Wholesale employees donated circa £20,000 worth of goods to school summer fairs and sporting events alone.

Colleagues also reached out to summer celebrations in aid of various local charities and community events. Good causes in receipt of support included Hope House Children’s Hospice, Much Wenlock’s Olympic Games, the Laura McPhee Memorial Fund and Pontyclun Football Club to name but a few.

Meanwhile, at stores and depots across the A.F. Blakemore estate colleagues were busy holding their own summer fundraisers for good causes such as the Paul Popham Fund, Make-A-Wish Foundation UK and the NSPCC.

Here is a snapshot of the sensational summer fundraisers that have taken place across the company in recent months:

SPAR Inkersall hosted a tombola stall outside their store and raised £207 for the NSPCC.

SPAR Beddau donated a trolley full of food and drink goodies to Bridgers Girls Rugby Club.

SPAR Loughor donated essential refreshments for a community family fun day hosted by Friends of Parc Williams in Loughor.

Blakemore Wholesale’s Trading team donated treats for a summer fair in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

SPAR Stannington donated goods to the 2016 Tractor Rally in aid of St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield.

Tara Bland from Blakemore Wholesale’s Penrith depot took part in a home colour run for Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland.

Blakemore Wholesale’s Birmingham depot donated refreshments to a summer barbecue hosted by St Chad’s Church.

Colleagues at SPAR Market Harborough delved into the summer of sport and cycled 353 miles for the NSPCC.
