Eggceptional Easter Support for Local Good Causes

Easter sprang early for local good causes across A.F. Blakemore’s trading area with an ‘eggcellent’ display of colleague-led charitable giving and fundraising.

Staff from across the Blakemore estate helped to make a significant contribution to their local communities by supporting 560 Easter-themed events.

Good causes were awarded more than £20,000 worth of food, drinks and Easter treats via the company’s charitable trust, the Blakemore Foundation, through Blakemore Retail SPAR stores and Blakemore Foodservice.

Good causes included local schools, care homes and community groups to name but a few. It is estimated that the goods support has enabled these good causes to leverage funds of around £7,000.

In addition to all of this charitable giving, Blakemore Retail SPAR stores across England and Wales hosted various Easter-themed fundraisers and ‘name the Easter bunny’ competitions, raising an excess of £22,000 for the NSPCC.

Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter said: "It is heart-warming to see so many people coming together to celebrate Easter and raise vital funds for those in need.

“The Blakemore Foundation is proud to support more and more good causes each year, and this year is no different. The sheer volume of fundraising and community events taking place is amazing.

"We would like to congratulate all those involved.”
