Colleague Football Tournament Raises Over £1,000 for NSPCC

July 31, 2017

This summer saw colleagues again take to the pitch for Blakemore Retail’s annual football tournament in aid of the NSPCC.

The five-a-side competition kicked off at Lutterworth Soccer Centre on July 16th, with 16 teams participating.

Over 100 players from Blakemore Retail stores took part in the competition as well as Retail and Property colleagues from head office. This year the tournament also welcomed a team from Blakemore Trade Partners.

The event, which was organised by Store Operations Director Chris Bacon and Operations Support & Marketing Manager Caroline Wills, raised a grand total of £1,141 for the good cause.

Chris said of the day: “It was fantastic to see so many colleagues donning their shin pads to go head to head in the tournament. It was a successful day, with all giving it their best and raising a substantial amount for the NSPCC.”

This year, the Property/BDS team were crowned the champions of the tournament, taking the winning title for the third time in five years. Meanwhile, Area Manager Sam Tomlinson’s ‘Making up the Numbers’ team were the graceful runners up.
