Charitable Giving Gets Eggstravagant for Easter

April 04, 2018

A.F. Blakemore employees helped to make Easter ‘eggstra special’ for their local communities with an assortment of colleague-led charitable giving, volunteering and fundraising activities.

Across the Blakemore estate, staff members donated circa £24,000 worth of Easter eggs, confectionery and raffle prizes via the Blakemore Foundation to almost 600 different Easter events.

Good causes included local schools, care homes and community groups to name but a few.

In addition to all of this charitable giving, Blakemore Retail SPAR stores across England and Wales are estimated to have fundraised in excess of £22,000 for the NSPCC by hosting Easter-themed events.

These included ‘Name the Easter Bunny’ competitions, family fun days, raffles and delicious cake stalls.

Blakemore Retail’s Wadsley Bridge, Crosspool and Greenhill Post Offices also took part in a community volunteering project with the Sheffield Homeless Easter Egg Appeal.

Here is a snapshot of the activity that took place across A.F. Blakemore’s trading area this Easter:
