Blakemore employees have donated more than £1,500 worth of tea, coffee, cake, squash and biscuits to Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

Colleagues from Blakemore Retail SPAR stores and Blakemore Wholesale cash & carry depots handed over 43 in-kind donations worth £1,565, via the Blakemore Foundation, to members of the local community fundraising for the event, which took place on September 30th.

The donated goods are thought to have helped fundraisers raise around £4,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The charity provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support to those facing cancer, as well as campaigning for better cancer care.

Meanwhile, baking enthusiasts in Blakemore Retail’s Tonyrefail store, Blakemore Trade Partners, Blakemore Wholesale’s Middlesbrough and Walsall cash & carry depots as well as Blakemore Foodservice’s James Bridge and Wakefield depots raised a further £1,848 for the cancer charity.

Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter commented: "The 43 donations awarded by the Blakemore Foundation to the Coffee Morning this year is the highest number in the company's history of supporting the event.

"We hope that backing from the Blakemore Foundation has enabled fundraisers to boost the funds raised for this great cause.

"Well done to every single person who hosted and supported a Macmillan coffee morning. Your support never fails to impress."
