A team of 30 colleagues from Blakemore Retail and Blakemore Trade Partners has donated more than 250 hours of work time to supporting a local community allotment.

Area and regional managers from Blakemore Retail and sales managers and directors from Blakemore Trade Partners joined forces to support the Old Hall People's Partnership allotment in Bentley, Walsall.

Volunteers completed tasks including painting planters and a shed, clearing old allotments, a greenhouse and overgrown land, and creating a base for a seating area.

The project was led by Business Development Manager George Duffy and Area Manager Nigel Bostock.

Old Hall People's Partnership is a community group based in Bentley, Walsall. The charity was originally set up as a tenants and residents association aiming to make small changes to the local community of Bentley, Walsall.

Since forming in October 2000 the charity has gone from strength to strength and now manages five community buildings.

A.F. Blakemore Community Affairs Officer Liz Bell said: “It is great to see two divisions coming together and using their manpower to make such a difference in the local community.

“The work that the teams completed on the day, despite the wet and cold weather, was amazing and something they should all be extremely proud of!

“I hope that this motivates other colleagues to get involved in their local communities and make a difference.”
