A.F. Blakemore employees supported more than two thousand different good causes in their local communities this Christmas.

Community engagement was key, with activities including volunteering, fundraising and charitable giving.

Colleagues across England and Wales donated more than 900 hours of work time via the company’s community volunteering programme to good causes including Ysgol Henry Richard, Cefn Coch Primary School, Park Bryn Nursing Home, Saint Padarn Church, Dyserth Pet Rescue, Bodnant Community Primary School, Ysgol Bryn Hedydd, Lincoln Toy Library, St Mary’s Church, Doncaster Shoebox Appeal, Sheffield Period Appeal and Simply Limitless in Kidderminster to name just a few.

Meanwhile, staff in Blakemore Retail, Blakemore Trade Partners and Blakemore Technical Services hosted a spectacular selection of fundraising activities including the NSPCC’s Battle of the Bakes and Sparkle Day, as well as Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children.

Whilst collections are still ongoing, it is estimated that more than £20,000 has been raised for the NSPCC and more than £13,000 for local good causes.

In addition to fundraising, Blakemore Retail and Blakemore Foodservice helped to donate more than £75,000 worth of food, drink and toiletries to 2,000 different festive events and appeals via the company’s charitable trust, the Blakemore Foundation.

This included Blakemore Foodservice’s large donation of 33,000 eggs to Crisis at Christmas’s Christmas dinner for the homeless and vulnerable.

Community Affairs Officer Kate Senter said: "I would like to congratulate every single one of you that has supported a local good cause this year. It really has helped to bring communities together, raise vital funds and help those in need.”
