A.F. Blakemore has added 10 new rigid vehicles to its distribution fleet as part on an ongoing vehicle replacement programme.
Seven rigids have been acquired for Blakemore Foodservice’s Darlaston depot and another three for the company’s logistics operation in Willenhall.
The new Scania P280 18T rigids have Frigoblock electric fridges and the latest safety features. Each has been fitted with all-round Spillard live cameras to ensure that vulnerable road users can be seen.
The cabs have been awarded a 3-star rating by the Direct Vision Standard, which is a scheme designed to improve the safety of road users. Trucks over 12 tonnes are awarded between 0 stars (lowest) and 5 stars (highest) based on the amount of direct vision the driver has from the cab windows.
Supply Chain Director Ranald Forbes commented: “This latest vehicle investment is part of a long-term fleet replacement programme, which aims to keep A.F. Blakemore up to date with the latest vehicles and technology.
“The company is committed to responsible business practice, and the new vehicles not only offer excellent fuel efficiency to minimise our environmental impact but also the latest technology to maximise driver and road user safety."
