Blakemore Foodservice is delighted to announce that it has retained its grocery, chilled and frozen distribution contract with Dudley and Walsall councils.

The contract, worth £1.9m per annum, will see the business continue to supply the councils for a further three years.

Head of Foodservice Aoife Kenny commented: “This is great news for the Foodservice business as we come out of the recent challenges of the Covid pandemic. Winning this tender has been a real team effort.

“Special thanks go to contract tendering team members Matt Johnson, Lisa Barber and Sharon Garner for continuing to provide a first-class contract support service.

“I’d also like to thank the pricing, trading and logistics teams for their contribution in the tender process to secure this contract. The division received exceptional feedback.

“With this year’s tender, the councils saw significant improvements in our overall foodservice capability. We could not have achieved this without Kerri Stringer’s support on business analytics service Power BI, our new development chef Ian Boden on the menus, and Liz Blakemore on the corporate social responsibility work she did prior to her maternity leave.

“The fact that we have won this contract demonstrates that the changes Blakemore Foodservice has made in the last year are securing our future in the industry.”

Council Purchasing/Marketing & Liaison Officer Julia Nicholls wrote: “Having recently retendered the business for Grocery and Frozen we were very happy to award both to Blakemore’s for a minimum of another three years.

“Over the years that we have been with you we have built a strong relationship which, without doubt, has seen us through the extremely difficult last 18 months. Your support and understanding of our business meant we could deliver what was needed to our customers.

“Areas that proved beneficial were the new IT Power BI system and menu support, which other competitors couldn’t offer.”

The councils also recently completed an internal survey on their suppliers, and this year Blakemore Foodservice scored significantly higher across the key KPIs than it did in 2019.

“Aoife added: “Congratulations to everyone in all of our central services teams who contributed to this achievement. Blakemore Foodservice is now looking forward to strengthening its relationship with the councils and working together with them to deliver a successful joint business plan for the next three years.”
