Blakemore Retail’s NSPCC Fundraising Reaches New Heights

October 17, 2018

Ten Blakemore Retail colleagues have thrown themselves into a fundraising challenge, jumping out of a plane and plunging 10,000 feet in the name of charity.

Staff from Blakemore Retail Buckley Post Office and SPAR stores Bad Bargain Lane, Laceby Lodge, Much Wenlock, Sherburn, South Woodham and Wyberton braved the NSPCC’s Big Skydive event to raise £6,861.

The Big Skydive took place on October 6th and 7th at parachute centres across England and Wales, with the fundraisers reaching speeds of up to 120mph to complete the 10,000ft tandem skydive.

After her skydive, Alison Faunt from SPAR Wyberton said: “I went through every emotion possible that day. It’s the scariest thing I have ever done, but I did enjoy it once the parachute opened!”

Funds raised by Blakemore Retail support the NSPCC School Service and their Speak Out. Stay Safe. programme, which teaches primary school children about abuse and neglect in an age-appropriate way, and advises them on what to do if anything worries them.

The amount raised by Blakemore Retail from the skydive will allow the NSPCC to reach over 2,000 primary school children to give them the knowledge and understanding to stay safe from abuse and neglect.

NSPCC Partnership Account Manager Romaine Maret commented: “Blakemore Retail employees really have gone beyond the call of duty to support us. We can only applaud their bravery and once again say how much we appreciate the lengths they go to to help children stay safe from abuse and neglect.

“Blakemore Retail is a fantastic supporter of the NSPCC, raising crucial funds to help us reach primary school children across the UK with our Speak Out. Stay Safe. service.”
