LGV Transport


Blakemore Logistics LGV Transport Apprenticeship

The Blakemore Logistics LGV Transport apprenticeship is aimed at those who wish to become LGV drivers. 

Our apprentices learn key skills including:

  • How to prepare a vehicle for driving
  • How to drive a vehicle on public roads in a fuel-efficient manner
  • Route planning and timings for the collection and delivery of loads
  • How to maintain health and safety and handle goods in logistics operations

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must have held a full clean UK car driving licence for at least one year and be at least 18 years of age.

Candidates can normally expect to complete the apprenticeship within 18 months. 


The Key Milestones and Development Opportunities


2 weeks: Full induction with on-the-job training

6 weeks: Hands-on training to understand the warehouse operations, a week in the transport office and an introduction to the buddy programme

8 weeks: Getting to know an LGV vehicle and the relevant regulations and legislations

6 months: Medical assessment, driving theory test and application for LGV licence

12 months: Achievement of your LGV licence and full competence in a driving role

2 years: Opportunity to gain a Cat C+E licence
