This summer saw colleagues again take to the pitch for Blakemore Retail’s 10th annual football tournament in aid of the NSPCC.

The five-a-side competition kicked off in scorching temperatures at Lutterworth Soccer Centre on July 8th, with 16 teams participating.

Almost 100 players from Blakemore Retail stores took part in the competition. This year again saw a team from Blakemore Trade Partners join in the tournament.

The event, which was organised by Operations Support & Marketing Assistant Manager Caroline Wills, Operations Support & Marketing Graduate Alex Dudgon and Store Operations Director Chris Bacon, raised a grand total of £1,094 for the good cause.

Since 2014, the tournament has raised nearly £6,000 towards helping children across the country stay safe from abuse.

Chris said of the day: “It was brilliant to see so many colleagues joining in again this year, especially as it was our 10th tournament.

“It was also fantastic to see a new team dominate the competition. The day was a hot one and a success, with everyone giving it their all despite the heat to raise a great amount for the NSPCC.”

Area Manager Sam Tomlinson’s ‘Making up the Numbers’ team, last year’s runners up, seized the trophy this year, with ‘Cruse to Victory’ from Janet Cruse’s area coming in as the graceful runners up.
