Careers with Blakemore Retail

Why Work For Us?

Blakemore Retail is committed to helping our people fulfil their potential and develop their careers within the company.

There are already many personal success stories to tell and many examples of people who have come through the business to become supervisors, assistant managers and store managers.  Indeed our senior management team are predominantly long standing colleagues who have been promoted through the business.

Training Benefits

All employees undertake basic mandatory training, with optional training programmes being offered at all levels.  We have an intensive and diverse annual programme of training, covering subject areas like management development, first aid and fresh food.  We can offer both in-house and external qualifications and are an accredited centre for delivering NCPLH (licensing qualification).

We are also interested in our managers of the future and provide a wide range of courses to help all levels of staff to maximise their potential.

Staff Benefits

Other benefits for employees include:

  • Long Service Awards for our long serving members of staff.

  • Our Save As You Earn Scheme, which allows staff to save from as little as £5 per week.

  • Our Staff Lottery - prizes range from £50 to £1000 and draws take place four times per year.  Shares cost from 10p to £1 per week (deducted from wages).

  • Our Staff Social Fund - any store can apply for a contribution towards staff social events.

  • Our Pension Scheme - eligibility to join is three years’ service for hourly paid staff and one year’s service for salaried staff.

  • A Staff Discount, which is available to all employees.  We see this benefit as an important commitment to all of our colleagues.
